The 90th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society will take place in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia World Congress Center, on January 17-21, 2010. The Meeting is being organized around the theme, "Weather, Climate, and Society: New Demands on Science and Services." The theme is in response to the idea that twenty-first century weather and climate are not like anything experienced in the twentieth century. Societies are currently struggling to address adaptation and mitigation issues related to projected extreme weather and climate change. For this reason, the Meeting, which will include specialty conferences, symposia, and special sessions, will cover a wide range of topics that fit within the Meeting's theme.
In addition, there will be a number of other activities for attendees including, courses, town hall meetings, the Presidential Policy Forum, the AMS student conference and career fair, and the daily weather briefing. The AMS Annual Meeting also offers the largest exhibit program in atmospheric, oceanic, and related sciences. Over 100 exhibitors from the United States and all over the world will be showcasing their products, publications and services, making announcements and rolling out new products. Attendees will have the opportunity for social interaction, as well as checking out future trends in equipment, systems, and software.
