Dell, it seems, is taking a cue from Apple as the company plans to hold its inaugural Dell World Conference from October 12 through October 14 in Austin, Texas according to an event invitation email that was sent to many media outlets this week.
Dell World, as it is being called, will feature keynote addresses from CEO Michael Dell, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Solutions Group Brad Anderson, President of Public and Large Enterprise Paul Bell, President of Consumer, Small and Medium Business Steve Felice and President of Dell Services Stephen Schuckenbrock. Chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com Marc Benioff, VMware CEO Paul Maritz and Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini are also scheduled to speak at the event, though not as keynote speakers.
Set to take place at the Austin Convention Center, the event, which has the theme "Unlocking Innovation in the Virtual Era", is targeted to "IT professionals who plan, deploy and manage enterprise technology," according to DellWorld.com. Michael Dell's keynote speech plans on focusing on the changing face of IT and how innovation in technology is "fueling the next chapter for cloud computing, data management and mobility," according to the site.
Dell has not disclosed how many VARs are expected to attend the event or what information and sessions might be specific to partners. Nevertheless, at least one Dell Partner is interested in the event. According to Peter Kennedy, Founding Partner and Chairman of Kraft & Kennedy, a Solution Provider based out of New York, "To the degree they have meaningful content and show a clear direction that Dell is headed, it's a great idea."
The Dell World Conference will take place from October 12 through October 14, 2011 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.
