The Game Developer’s Conference 2009

The Game Developer’s Conference, or GDC, was held from March 23rd - March 27th at the Moscone Center in San Franscisco, California and is the largest anuual event for game developers. The CDC presents the opportunity of learning, inspiration, and networking by offering a plethora of events. These events include lectures, tutorials, roundtables consisting of industry professionals who offer discussions on game-related topics like audio, production, programming, design, business, managment and visual arts. There are also networking events, awards shows.

Industry professionals consider the GDC to be essentail for growth and you can see why when looking at the history. What started as a gathering in the livingroom of game designer Chris Crawford has grown to become a multi-million dollar event that became so rooted in the industry that it led to the creation of the Computer Game Developers Association in 1994.

The GDC hosts a variety of different shows like the Spotlight Awards, Independent Game Festival and the Game Developers Choice Awards and also hosts the Game Desgin Challenge creadted by Eric Zimmerman. The Game Design Challenge allows others to experience the process of game design, and allow all who participate the opportunity to be inspired and learn from the experience.

The Game Developers Conference is held in San Fransisco, California, each year promising a variety of special events and speakers. Events included this year was a deeper look into the developmental approach to directing the camera in the widley popular Prince of Persia video game by Jonathon Bard of Ubisoft Montreal and a look at the Art tools and techniques of Killzone 2 by Jan Bart van Beek ofGuerilla Games. Indusrty representatives will also be happy to see Keynote speakers Kideo Kojima, head of Kojima Productions, with “Solid Game Design: Making the ‘Impossible’ Possible” and Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, with “Discovering New Development Oppurtunities”.

NSBE 13th Annual Technical Professional Conference to Be Held In Las Vegas

The National Society for Black Engineers is holding it 13th Annual Technical Professional Conference (TPC) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
