Netbook Rentals

Netbook RentalLaptops are good because they are portable, easy to use and give you almost all the computing skills and power of a desktop on the go. However, laptop designers have taken the portable computer idea to new extremes with a new era of laptops, the Netbook and Ultraportable. These devices are even thinner and more portable than your standard laptop and some of them even offer better hardware and software options. For a true mobile businessman, an ultraportable or netbook is definitely the way to go.

However, Rentacomputer.com knows that there are some businessmen out there that only travel on rare occasions, maybe once or twice a year. For these individuals, it doesn't make financial sense to purchase a netbook or ultraportable (many of which can cost upwards of $1,000) that they are only going to use a few times a year. That is why Rentacomputer.com offers a full line of Ultrabook and Netbook Rentals.

If you or an employee is headed on a last minute trip to a convention or trade show or if you find yourself on the road and you forgot your laptop, an ultraportable or netbook rental is perfect for you. These devices are specifically designed for travel and have screens as small as 5" diagonally and a typical weight of between 2 and 4 lbs. Smaller netbooks can range from 7" to 9" so, depending on the degree of mobility you need out of your rental, you might consider going smaller as devices of this size can easily fit into travel bags with plenty of room to spare.

If you are looking for something with a little more computing power then you may want to consider a larger netbook, one that ranges from 10" to 13". These devices are perfect if you need excellent mobility with some decent computing power and a larger screen. Being physical larger means more internal space, which in turn means you can pack in more hardware.

Rentacomputer.com offers ultraportable and netbook rentals that also have every piece of software you need, or may need, pre-loaded on them at your request. In addition to that, Rentacomputer.com offers select business software suites like Microsoft Office. This makes your job easier because all you have to do is boot up and your netbook is all ready to go.

Another feature Rentacomputer.com offers is data integrity. If you are traveling with a netbook that contains sensitive corporate information, this might be a good option to go with. Netbook rentals are perfect for putting any worries to rest as a Tech Travel Agent can have a netbook delivered to your hotel, convention center or business location so you don't have to worry about it getting stolen or lost in the airport.

So the next time you are thinking of hitting the road and you think a laptop may be a good thing to take with you, consider an Ultraportable or Netbook Rental from Rentacomputer.com. Rentacomputer.com has over 20 years in the business of computer and technology rentals and also rents to any state in the country, as well as Canada, South America and the United Kingdom, allowing you to go with a name you can trust, no matter where you are.

Power Point Projectors
Most business class projectors will do a good job displaying your PowerPoint presentation. If you have a small presentation group, a 2000 lumen LCD projector will be able to produce a nice and clear picture. For larger audiences you should consider a 5000 lumen LCD projector.

Rack-Mount Server Rentals

Rack-Mount ServerWhen it comes to technology rentals, one of the most useful things you can rent is a server. Server rentals are perfect for anybody who needs a fast and easy temporary server. However, it isn't always easy to know what type to get. One of the more popular server rentals offered by Rentacomputer.com is a Rack-Mount Server Rental.

Any server you rent from Rentacomputer.com will offer great performance and reliability, but rack-mount servers have many advantages over your traditional tower server or other type of server. Rack-mount servers offer a greater ease of access for mounting and servicing, allow for an increased air flow, increased utilization of vertical space and a lower power consumption than conventional tower servers.

But just because you rent a server doesn't mean you are finished. You also have to consider an operating system. Rentacomputer.com can custom load any server operating system you need for your rack-mount server rental, including the newest edition of Microsoft's server operating systems, Windows Server 2008. New and improved product features, like Hyper-V virtualization and Remote Desktop Services and Internet Information Server 7, are just a few features Windows Server 2008 has to boost productivity and ease the cost and burden of server administration.

One question Rentacomputer.com gets all the time when it comes to a server rental is "How many cores does my server need?" Most servers have multiple processors and each processor has multiple cores. How many cores your server needs will need depends on what type of services you are going to be implementing with your server. If you are unsure, then your Tech Travel Agent will have the answer. Just let your Tech Travel Agent know what you will be using your rack-mount server rental for and he or she will tell you exactly how many cores you need.

So the next time you find yourself in need of a temporary rack-mount server, consider a rack-mount server rental from Rentacomputer.com. Rentacomputer.com has over 20 years in the technology rental industry which means when you rent from them, you are renting from a name you can count on.

All-in-One PC Rentals

All-in-One PCOne of the benefits that laptops and tablets have had over desktop PCs is that all the hardware for your computer is in one case with a laptop or tablet whereas a desktop PC requires you to have both a monitor and a tower as well as a mouse and a keyboard. However, all that has changed with the invention of all-in-one PCs.

All-in-One PCs offer a variety of benefits and Rentacomputer.com offers a variety of All-in-One PC Rentals. All-in-One PCs do not require any additional equipment because everything you need is bundled into one device including the monitor. Thanks to new technological trends, computer screens have become smaller and thinner. CRT monitors are no longer in use, allowing computer companies to take everything that would normally go into a computer tower and put it into the monitor.

All the components of a computer tower are placed behind the LCD panel, including the monitor, CPU, hard drive, speakers, graphics card; everything is one neat package. However, many people look at All-in-One PCs and think that there is no need for them because they have a laptop instead. However, there are a plethora of benefits in using an All-in-One PC over a laptop.

Laptops may be more portable and take up less space than an All-in-One PCs but they lack the computing power of a full-fledged computer. That is where an All-in-One PC comes into play. These devices are, essentially, a desktop computer sans the tower. This makes taking a computer with you wherever you go much easier and allows you to take all the power of your home computer on the road with you.

One popular All-in-One PC is the Apple iMac. The iMac has been the gold standard for the All-in-One PC market. The design of the flat panel iMac puts everything you need, including a display, processor, graphics card, hard drive, optical drive, memory and other components, inside a single enclosure. But Apple isn't the only company in the All-in-One PC market. Every major name in the PC business has tried their hand at the All-in-One PC market and Rentacomputer.com can provide you with a device from any of them.

So the next time you are considering a computer rental, consider an All-in-One PC rental from Rentacomputer.com. By going with a company that has over 20 years of experience in the industry you know you are going with somebody you can count on and trust 100% of the time.

A Copier Rental is a quick way to mass produce important documents for potential customers at an event or conference. Renting office equipment is simple and easy and it can also save you loads of time and money. Rentacomputer.com has been offering copier rentals to more than 1000 cities worldwide for over 20 years.

Philippine Officials to Regulate Computer Rental Shops in Tublay

Philippine PoliceSometimes I think we take the freedoms we have in this country for granted. For instance, we have the freedom to rent computers and other pieces of technology without oppressive regulation from government officials. However, this isn't always the case in other countries.

Officials in Tublay, Benguet, located in the Philippines, have recently enacted Ordinance No. 2011-08, which regulates the operation of computer rental shops, cyber cafes or internet access studios as well as other similar establishments in the city. Ordinance 2011-08 was passed on second at the provincial board.

In the explanatory note of the ordinance, the officials believe that there is a need to regulate the operations of computer shops and similar establishments due to vulnerability of minors and students to skip class due to access to these technologies. The ordinance prohibits owners and operators of computer rental businesses and other similar establishments from accepting students and minors in their stores during school hours and non-school hours.

However, there are exemptions to the rule. Renting to minors or students is allowed during school hours if a student is in need of a computer to do a school project, do research or any other academic activity. The student must have a written authorization from their teacher, instructor, school principal or other responsible official from their school in order to do so, however.

The ordinance also prohibits the access of pornographic, aggressive, violent or other related material. In addition to that, it also requires establishments to install and maintain anti-obscenity filtering software in order to block sites that would contain this type of material. It also requires the use of a logbook for students containing relevant information.

From here, it just goes off the deep end. The ordinance further requires that shops and stores be located at least 100 meters away from any schools and requires the posting of a sign at the entrance disallowing minors and students during regular school hours and noon breaks.

However, the measure does have the comforts of people in mind as well. The ordinance also requires that stores have good ventilation of the area in conformity with the provision of Presidential Decree 1096, also known as the National Building Code and the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers. Also, the space between each computer should be no less than one meter.

All I can say is that I am fortunate to live in a country where extreme regulations like this have no chance of being passed.

First Ever Dell World Conference Coming in October

Michael DellDell, it seems, is taking a cue from Apple as the company plans to hold its inaugural Dell World Conference from October 12 through October 14 in Austin, Texas according to an event invitation email that was sent to many media outlets this week.

Dell World, as it is being called, will feature keynote addresses from CEO Michael Dell, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Solutions Group Brad Anderson, President of Public and Large Enterprise Paul Bell, President of Consumer, Small and Medium Business Steve Felice and President of Dell Services Stephen Schuckenbrock. Chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com Marc Benioff, VMware CEO Paul Maritz and Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini are also scheduled to speak at the event, though not as keynote speakers.

Set to take place at the Austin Convention Center, the event, which has the theme "Unlocking Innovation in the Virtual Era", is targeted to "IT professionals who plan, deploy and manage enterprise technology," according to DellWorld.com. Michael Dell's keynote speech plans on focusing on the changing face of IT and how innovation in technology is "fueling the next chapter for cloud computing, data management and mobility," according to the site.

Dell has not disclosed how many VARs are expected to attend the event or what information and sessions might be specific to partners. Nevertheless, at least one Dell Partner is interested in the event. According to Peter Kennedy, Founding Partner and Chairman of Kraft & Kennedy, a Solution Provider based out of New York, "To the degree they have meaningful content and show a clear direction that Dell is headed, it's a great idea."

The Dell World Conference will take place from October 12 through October 14, 2011 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.

Tablet Rentals at a Baseball Game?

Los Angeles Angels tablet rentalsThe tablet industry has really been booming recently thanks to the iPad 2 and some very good competitors running the Android platform like the Samsung Galaxy Tab. With the hype in the technology industry growing in terms of tablets, it is no surprise that the technology rental industry has also seen an influx of tablet rentals. Tablet rentals are becoming as popular as laptop rentals and desktop rentals, but one outlet for tablet rentals may have taken the concept a little too far.

According to a press release, T-Mobile will soon begin offering a tablet rental service to attendees of any Los Angeles Angels home game. Yeah, you read that right, tablet rentals at a baseball game. For the lowly sum of only $10, you can rent a tablet that gives you access to:

  1. 1. Free game-day program that has been optimized for watching it on a tablet.

  2. Free content from the Zinio magazine app including the ability to read from a sampling of magazines during the game that includes ESPN.

  3. Free T-Mobile TV (only available on the T-Mobile G-Slate) that provides content from popular TV shows. All of the regular free content, including the "Select" package, which is normally $4.99, will be available as part of the game-day tablet rental.

  4. Access to T-Mobile's network that allows for fast video chat sessions and download speeds.

This seems like a cool concept, and definitely a good deal for only $10, though it does seem a little ridiculous and unnecessary. One of the best things about going to a game is leaving everything else behind. Why pay money to go to a game if you are just going to watch it on a tablet? Stay at home and save your money. And if you are going to go as far as to use a tablet then you might as well just bring your own.

Tablet rentals are definitely a good business venture for technology companies but only if the market in which they are renting seems worth it and to me, this doesn't seem like one of them. If you are going to rent technology, then do it at places where you really need it, like conventions or conferences, not baseball games. And while we are on the subject, don't bother taking your own tablet to the game either. Go to the game for the game. Wide Focus Range Seen at InfoComm 2011

InfoComm 2011This year's InfoComm was a tough nut to crack. The show was larger than I think anybody anticipated, taking up over 500,000 square feet of exhibit space at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. While there was a diverse range of exhibits targeting everything from the education market and musical instruments to rental and staging, a few key areas stood out among the rest.

Digital signage was one and occupied the most floor space. Signage is a focus in booths as well as a focus at every major CE manufacturer's booth. Digital signage is a very eco-friendly way to display products, information and data and it is also attractive and easily managed and is able to tie back to things like analytics, inventory management and overall sales increases.

Another trend on the show floor was video walls. Video walls can come in many sizes from single 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 designs to walls that have as many as 100 screens. Video walls are a fantastic way to draw attention to your booth and are also an excellent way to display information and products to a lot of people over a large distance.

An unexpected trend came in the way of document cameras. These are gooseneck-style cameras that can be used with a partner monitor or computer to display a document or 3D object to a large audience.

Projectors were another clear area of focus at this year's InfoComm. There was a wide range of projectors including 4K, 3D and 3-chip models with various enhancement features. In addition to that, a large number of products were aimed toward the education market. This is a very significant market, so much so that Panasonic Canada stated that more then 50% of its pro business comes from that sector.

There definitely was a wide variety of things that took the focus of this year's InfoComm and you can only expect next year to be the same way.

Baltimore Convention Center Looking to Expand

Baltimore Convention CenterIt must be a new trend in the world of convention centers because, like so many other big city convention centers, the Baltimore Convention Center is planning to expand. This center has some other motives aside from just having a bigger area for conventions. The main industry in Baltimore is tourism. Places like the Baltimore Convention Center, along with others like Harborplace, the Baltimore Aquarium, the Science Center and the home field of the Baltimore Orioles, are just a few places that really drive tourism in the city.

This new expansion to the convention center could help bring in more than $1.1 billion in annual local, state and federal tax revenues as well as create 74,000 jobs. The Baltimore Convention Center is currently the 73rd largest convention center in the country. Without expanding, the center will be unable to accommodate larger groups, host multiple conventions simultaneously or increase the demand for hotels throughout the city.

The Baltimore Convention Center's plans for expansion are not without their fair share of critics. People against the expansion are talking about down convention attendance during our country's economic slump. However, despite the current financial situation of our country, the Baltimore Convention Center was able to book 2% more hotel rooms in 2009 than in 2008 and 11.5% more in 2010 than in 2009.

Baltimore is also the recipient of a rare opportunity when it comes to expansions. Businessman Willard Hackerman has already committed to assemble private financing for half the cost of the project. The project is to not only expand on the convention center but to also build a new sports arena in the city. This is said to attract more sporting events, concerts and large religious and political conventions, among other things.

It is still unclear whether or not the expansion will happen, but the benefits are definitely there. All the people of Baltimore have to do is see how other expansions have boosted the local economy for those areas to see what an expansion to the Baltimore Convention Center has the potential to do.

Local Hotels Asked to Chip in on San Diego Convention Center Expansion

San Diego Convention CenterThe San Diego Convention Center is planning on putting up a nice expansion and is asking local hotels to contribute. Local hotels would need to contribute $30 million annually to help finance the new expansion under a proposal that was announced on May 12 by Mayor Jerry Sanders.

This plan includes forming a convention center assessment district where downtown hotels near the center would be assessed 3% on each room per night. Hotels located immediately outside of downtown in areas like Mission Bay and Mission Valley would only be assessed 2%.

Any hotel located further out than that would receive a 1% assessment. A board of directors, which is set to include hospitality industry members, would oversee the assessment district. Officials have stated that the hospitality industry's annual contribution to the debt service for the expansion would be between $28 million and $30 million. The funding plan was developed by Mayor Sanders along with civic leader Stephen Cushman, the convention center's executive board and hospitality industry representatives.

According to Sanders, "As I have said from the very beginning, the expansion of our convention center should be paid for by those who will benefit from it. Given the hospitality industry stands to gain substantially, it's only logical that they should fund a significant portion of this."

The San Diego City Council will receive an update on the project as well as the funding plan at its meeting on May 17th. The plan will also eventually be voted on by area hotel owners and is not expected to require a public vote.

Financing for the expansion has yet to be finalized, however, city and convention center officials are estimating that the work will cost around $550 million, which is down from a previous estimate of $711 million. Officials have stated that the project has been redesigned in order to achieve a greater efficiency and to improve public spaces.

Helpful Tips for Your First Trade Show

technology conventionsWith all the advancements in technology taking the physical meeting aspect out of business meetings or board room conferences, there really is no substitute for the good ol' fashioned face-to-face meeting one gets at a trade show or event. In the United States alone there are around 2,200 trade shows and industry expos held annually, however, this number is down almost 25% from the past three to four years. The good news is that a lot of new shows are popping their heads up this year and some discontinued ones have seen new life sparked into them and attendance is expected to improve.

If you run a small business and you want a higher profile in your industry or are looking for new clients, new partnerships or are needing to get up to par on certain trends, you should consider exhibiting or at least attending a show this year. Here are a few helpful tips and practices for getting the most out of your trade show without breaking the bank.

Budget Your Time. Familiarize yourself with the layout of the show floor and the schedule of events. Once you do this, plan your time accordingly. Try to talk with the event manager in advance and request a list of past attendees and pre-registrants.

Partner to Save. A lot of small companies often split rental fees on exhibit space with two to three other small businesses that complement them. By doing this you can save money and maybe even make a few new contacts while you're at it.

Know Your Goal. You need to determine whether or not you will be selling a product or taking orders at your show. This is known as a Contract Event. Otherwise, you will be meeting people and forming relationships in what is known as a Contact Event.

Go Minimalist. It is possible to purchase a reusable, fabric-covered back wall for your booth at a pretty cheap price (around $500). You can also get a folding easel for around $20. You could split these costs with your partners if you want to. The wall can be shipped to your hotel or be folded up and checked as baggage.

Give It Time. If you do plan on attending a show, don't try to squeeze it all into one half-day or a few hours, especially if this is one of the biggest events in your industry.

Tell the Manager About Your Company. Reporters for industry publications typically ask the general manager for tips on new exhibitors they can profile during the event. If you talk to the event manager, then they may tell the trade press about you. It's like free press, what can be better?

Rent Your Technology. If you need something like a laptop, computer, monitor or plasma display, you should know that you do not always need to buy it. Why spend all that money on something that you will only be using once or twice a year? Renting technology can save you a lot of time and money and is extremely convenient for trade shows and events.

So there you have it, some helpful tips to guide you through your first trade show, convention or event. These tips can make your first experience exponentially better than most others and will definitely give you some much needed advice.

Octavius Convention Center Receives LEED Silver Certification

Caesars Entertainment Corporation logoThe expansion of the Octavius Convention Center at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino by the Caesars Entertainment Corporation has just been awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and was also verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. According to Eric Dominguez, Corporate Director, Energy & Environmental Services for Caesars Entertainment, "The attainment of LEED Silver Certification for the Octavius Convention Center is a large achievement for Caesars Entertainment and its conservation and sustainability efforts. By using less energy and water, the convention center will effectively save environmental resources and decrease our greenhouse gas emission, contributing to a healthier environment for our employees and the community." The 110,000 square feet of available space, as well as the 52,000-square-foot ballrooms, both of which were completed by Design and Construction Group , was given the prestigious green building certification as a result of its sustainable building and operations practices to conserve energy and water. The Octavius Convention Center earned a total of 35 points for its green design and construction features like energy efficient lighting and water smart fixtures. "Caesars Entertainment's LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership," said President, CEO and Founding Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council Rick Fedrizzi. The urgency of USGBC's mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and the Octavius Convention Center expansion project serves as a prime example of just how much we can accomplish." Dominguez stated that the Octavius Convention Center will be the first of many LEED certified buildings at Caesars' properties in the United States. Caesars Entertainment leads the meetings and conventions industry in sustainability via its green meetings certification program and employee-driven practices. Employees at the company can become certified by attending a two-day course on green meeting planning strategies and initiatives and by completing a comprehensive sustainability exam on which they must score a 100% to obtain certification. There are 12 employees in Atlantic City and over 100 in Nevada who have received the certification and are working with companies to plan events with minimal environmental impact and waste. 2011 Rental Manager Software Released by Xgensoft

Michael Saunders, President of Xgensoft, recently announced their 2011 version of their Rental Manager software, the small business rental management software, which has a few noteworthy changes that a lot of people will be interested in hearing about.

Saunders went on to explain that, "Xgensoft has rebuilt its Rental Manager software in Access 2007, allowing a much greater processing speed and a larger number of simultaneous users." Saunders went on to say that, "the significance of this is faster data retrieval with more users accessing the data simultaneously."

The Rental Manager software from Xgensoft has been used to provide smaller rental businesses with a comprehensive, integrated rental inventory/business management program at an affordable price. This has been the goal of Xgensoft since they released the software for the first time back in 2003.

The upper limits of the software were originally between 5 and 10 simultaneous users. One concern for multi-user environments is always data retrieval speeds. The software will now support a lot more simultaneous users with an increased retrieval speed.

The 2011 edition of the software strengthens the Rental Manager program by providing rental business entrepreneurs with a software that handles the needs of a smaller rental business. The software also continues to handle their expansion needs by supporting more concurrent users while maintaining the integrity and speed of the program.

In addition to that, Xgensoft has now ensured that the 2011 Rental Manager software is 64-bit and 32-bit compatible which makes the software able to be used with the next generation of small business computer technology.

Amazon Extends Its Reach to Japan

Amazon recently expanded its remote computing service to Japan. That's right, the Land of the Rising Sun has been added to Amazon's remote computing services after the company found out that developers in Japan required more data storage as well as faster data transfer times.

AWS, the Amazon Web Service, has just opened a Tokyo Region Cloud Services and computing resources dedicated to Japan. The company offers Amazon EC2, which is a virtual computer rental service, as well as Amazon S3, a web storage service. Both services have a Japanese forum as well as a Japanese web site.

Amazon used the term Region to call its Amazon Web Services due to the computing resources which are dedicated to Japan. However, the company did not say where the resources are located which implies that the data centers may be located somewhere else.

Amazon's Web Services began in 2006 and is estimated to have 330,000 developers using the service. Amazon Web Services also has other regions which include Singapore, Europe and the United States. The access, data storage and general computer use from a remote location is known as Cloud computing.

Amazon began in 1995 as an online retailer but quickly expanded to a plethora of online businesses. Amazon is only one of the cloud service providers in the world with one of its fiercest competitors being Rackspace. The two companies find different ways to provide users more control over their data in the cloud.

Great Benefits to Computer Rentals

benefits to computer rentalsComputer rentals are really useful in a lot of different ways and can help you out in a lot of different scenarios. It is no secret that the economy in our world today has seen better times. The current situation we are in economically can really take its toll on people, especially small or medium-sized businesses that are reliant on having the most up-to-date pieces of equipment.

While having the most up-to-date equipment can do wonders for your business, it can also sink it due to costs and other factors. Continuously buying new equipment can drain your bank account faster than you may think. But thankfully, there is an alternative, a computer rental. Computer rentals can benefit you and your company in many different ways and may even save your business.

Predictable Expenses - Have you ever been looking online or in a store for a computer or other piece of equipment and found a really great price only to go in to purchase the equipment the next week and the price has gone up $200? That happens a lot, but not with a computer rental. With a computer rental you always have a solid price. Your payments will not increase month to month and the price of your rental won't go up either.

Minimal Upfront Expenses - Computer rentals have minimal costs that you are required to pay upfront which allows them to deliver the technology you need at a fraction of the price you would pay to purchase it. This allows you to be more flexible with your equipment and technology.

Flexibility - Do you know what kind of revenue your company will be producing in six months? If you answered yes, then ask yourself how reliable that figure is and if you are willing to bet a lot of your company's income on it? Computer rentals offer great flexibility and allow you to alter your computer rental contracts whenever you need to. This could keep you from making a potentially business-ending decision.

Technicians When and Where You Need Them - For some people, getting technical support can be an all out nightmare. With a computer rental, however, you can get a technician to come out and deliver your equipment, set it up and even test it to make sure it is all working properly. If your equipment breaks or malfunctions, you can have that same tech come back out and troubleshoot your problem and even fix it on the spot. Try getting Dell or HP to do that for you.

Disposable - Computers lose their value as they age. This is because they often become outdated with newer models that are faster, more powerful and able to handle more tasks more easily. Plus, most of the software and things you would need for your computer are designed to run best on the newest products, continually outdating older ones. Buying new computers every couple of years can get very expensive very quickly which is why a computer rental is a great way to stay on top of the new technology and still keep money in your wallet.

These are just a few of the many reasons a computer rental can better support your business over a purchase. So the next time your company needs a computer or another piece of technology, consider getting a computer rental instead.

2011 Tech: What You Should Expect

20112011 is poised to be a big year in the world of technology as companies are seriously finding out what they can do with their products and their technology. There was some good stuff released in 2010 that will show up in some more advanced tech in 2011 so be ready to see some familiarity among products.

Microsoft finally entered the motion control gaming market in late 2010 with their release of Kinect for the Xbox 360. Kinect allows the gamer's entire body to be the controller so nothing tangible is used to play the games. You control on-screen events and actions by waving your body about in certain motions. The company behind that technology is PrimeSense and they are going to supply that technology to Home Theater PC (HTPC) companies in 2011 in order to give movie and TV watchers the functionality of their remote control without their remote control. Look for gesture-controlled devices coming sometime in 2011.

Tablets were a huge thing in 2010 and they are only going to get bigger in 2011. Research in Motion (RIM), who made the BlackBerry, is poised to unveil their entry into the tablet market sometime in 2011. The device, known as the PlayBook, will battle against the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Dell Streak, the HP Slate 500, the iPad and a whole host of other tablets in 2011. There are a lot of other companies besides computer ones that are interested in jumping on the tablet bandwagon so be prepared to see a lot more tablets coming your way this year.

Wireless displays are something that aren't being talked about a whole lot, but it does appear that they are set to unleash in 2011. The WiGig Alliance said back in November that they will partner with VESA, the international non-profit company that has been known to support as well as set industry-wide interface standards on workstations, PCs and consumer electronics on a wireless DisplayPort. This device will support the same two-way speeds that a wired DisplayPort has and will carry audio as well as video for almost any type of display device from tablets to monitors. AMD, Broadcom, Dell and Micrososft have already hopped on board with the WiGig Alliance and a few big movie studios are showing interest as well.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to new tech in 2011. There are so many more great products and ideas on the way that I could write for days about. These are some of the main ones that a lot of people will be interested in but keep checking back here as we will be giving you up-to-date information on all the latest technology news.

Mac Rentals: Which One is Right for You?

One of the most popular brands in the laptop rental industry is definitely Apple. Mac laptops offer a lot of great features to the traveling businessman. However, there are so many different ones out there that it is hard to determine which one is the right one for you. The first step is determining what kind of traveling businessman you are.

If you are a video editor, graphic artist, web designer or photographer, then you may want to go with a Mac Pro Rental. These computers have a 3.0 GHz Quad-core or 8-core Intel Xeon processor, 4GB of memory, 250GB to 320GB of hard drive space, the Apple Cinema 23" or 30" display and a 16x SuperDrive CD/DVD drive.

If you are more of a sales professional, line producer, marketing executive or a consultant, then you may be best suited by a MacBook Air Rental. MacBooks come with either a 1.83 GHz or 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, 120GB to 160GB of hard drive space, a 13.3" display and an 8x SuperDrive CD/DVD drive.

People attending seminars, evaluations or training seminars or who are part of a production staff or registration process may want to look into an iMac Rental. iMac machines come with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, 160GB to 250GB of hard drive space, a 20" display and an 8x SuperDrive CD/DVD drive.

A MacBook Pro Rental is perfect for anybody who is creative, a business professional or a photographer. MacBook Pros come with either a 2.1GHz or 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, 200GB to 250GB of hard drive space, a 15.4" display and an 8x SuperDrive CD/DVD drive.

Keep Your Business Profitable with Technology Rentals

Computer RentalsAs anybody in business knows, when your business grows, your needs can change. Your needs may change from having a simple printer or fax machine one year to needing a stand alone printer, photocopier and wireless network the next. So it's obvious that keeping up to date with your computer rentals can save you a lot of time and money.

A computer rental is all about cash flow improvement. When you buy a computer or computers, all your money is going out the door at one time. But with a computer rental, you only pay as you need them, and they always allow you to stay in touch with the most up-to-date technology and trends. Whenever you need an upgrade, you know that you do not always need to throw down a sizable investment.

It is no secret that if equipment costs less, then you can afford more of it. Your growing business may need a lot of things, like a network printer for each department as opposed to just one for the entire company. And by renting, you can get the extra printers in your office immediately rather than having to borrow money or wait on a bank approved loan. Renting also leaves your cash available for use and lines of credit open for other business expenses.

Let's look at an example. Let's say you work for a customer service center and you need to employ extra staff for the holiday season. Buying new computers for each of those new employees would cost thousands of dollars, while the people are only going to be there for a few months. Instead, look at renting the equipment.
Renting the equipment:
Prevents a surplus of equipment sitting unused after the project has been completed.
Means short-term, fixed-price equipment can be factored into the cost of the project.
Allows for tax deductions for rental fees.
Protects the business from a short-term cost shock.

In the world of business, which is rapidly changing, your ability to swiftly react to change could be the key difference between increasing your income and going broke. Buying your equipment definitely gives you certainty and also builds your assets base, but there are definitely times when a rental can be the smarter business decision.
